Well Of Wonders Slot Review
Most people are aware of the Wishing Well, a font of not just water, but the chance for you to toss a coin into its murky depths in the hope that your wish may well be granted. This interesting slot from newcomers Thunderkick offers a new and updated take on this old fable. This modern age well is known as the Well of Wonders and as a slot player you may well wonder what you have let yourself in for as when the game loads up, you will be immediately aware that this is a slot game that looks and plays very differently to the vast majority of slots you can play.
The first thing that is immediately obvious is that there are no reels, well certainly not in the conventional sense. Instead what you have is the Well of Wonder itself with seven items seemingly floating above it. These seven items are generated from within the well and instead of hitting paylines, what you need to hit when you ‘spin’ the reels on this game, is the same item three or more times in the seven shown. The more of the same items that you land on your bet, the higher the potential value of the prize that you will win. Wagers start at just 10p per game though you can increase the wager up to £100 per game.
Once you understand this then the Well of Wonders makes a lot more sense and playing the game is actually easier to follow than many slot games if truth be told, it is simply the style of presentation that can throw you. The game is packed with some solid features too (which we will look at below in more detail) and you can play the game for yourself right now at the ever popular Bet365 Vegas site.
Well of Wonders Key Features
Well of Wonders is a gently paced game with a soft, melodic soundtrack and a simple to follow method of playing. Once you have set your wager size, simply click the spin, or Autoplay, feature and the Well of Wonders will generate seven new symbols. The seven symbols are taken from a selection of eight different symbols in the game, the red jewel being the highest value of the eight symbols and offering you a prize of 50x your total bet if you can land seven across the reels on a single turn. You need to land three of the same symbol on a spin to win.
If you do manage to land three of the seven symbols in any of the seven places above the well, then after awarding you your win, these icons will flash and disappear and the Well will generate the requisite number of symbols to replace them. When this happens, the multiplier stones (which you can see at the base of the well) will move up to the next value. If on this ‘respin’ you trigger another win, the same process will happen again, so landing successive ‘respin’ wins will trigger increasingly large multipliers (1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and a maximum of 32x the stated amount). In essence this feature is similar to the Rolling Reels or Cascading Reels feature that you will have seen on some other slots.
To help you land a win there is a Wild symbol included in the game which can substitute for any of the other seven symbols to create a win. Furthermore, if you spin and do not win then on random occasions an Fairy will appear and trigger the Fairy Feature. When this occurs, the Fairy waves her magic wand and removes any symbols on the current selection of reels that have appeared just once and replaces them with new symbols offering you a chance of a win and furthermore, when the Fairy appears, she automatically increases the size of the multiplier for you as an additional bonus.
This is a very enjoyable slot game that is different to most and which offers good value on returns (all wins are at least the same value as your wager, or better). However it is a medium to higher variance slot and as such, players need to budget carefully to get the most out of the game.
