A Beginner’s Guide to Enjoying Blackjack at bet365 Casino
Blackjack is one of the staples of casino gaming. It is a hugely popular game and part of the reason for that appeal is that it is also one of the most player-friendly games you can play in a casino, in terms of being able to earn a little money back from your playing in terms of winning cash.
That doesn’t mean that Blackjack is automatically a profit-making machine. Far from it, you require great skill, a sound strategy and an excellent understanding of the subtle nuances of the game in order to play the game at a level where making a small profit even becomes tangible over the long term.[featured_offer id=”2416″]
What makes it so popular, apart from the more favourable odds for players to win a hand, is the fact that the game is so simple to play. Even if you have never played the game previously, it is extremely easy to follow that you need to beat the dealers score, without going over 21, in order to win a hand.

The appeal of Blackjack at bet365 Casino
As well as being player friendly and extremely easy to understand, blackjack is also one of the first card games that we often learn when we first start to get interested in card games. Although when playing for fun, the aim is often stated as trying to “get as close to 21 as you can”, when you play at the casino, you soon realise that it is beating the dealers score that is the real aim of the game.
Casinos tend to offer a few different types of blackjack and bet365 Casino is no different. Players can elect to play a number of different games on the site, either via desktop or by mobile.
Some of the versions available at bet365 Casino include:
- Cashback Blackjack
- Premium Blackjack
- Buster Blackjack
- Blackjack Surrender
- Live Casino Blackjack
- All Bets Progressive Blackjack
The top four games are standard online casino blackjack offerings with just slight tweaks to the rules of each to offer a different playing experience. Live Casino Blackjack however is operated via a Live Stream and uses real human croupiers to deal the cards and interact with players. This version tends to be a little more expensive to play than the other versions, but is as close as you can get to playing Blackjack at the casino as you can get online.
The All bets Progressive Blackjack option is a blackjack game that also has a progressive jackpot available to be won. To stand a chance of winning the progressive prize, you need to place a side bet alongside your standard bet and then land 4 suited aces in your hand. If you do, then the massive progressive jackpot prize (which at the time of writing, stood at over £69,500) can be yours.
The simple rules of Blackjack
Although each different game of blackjack may have slightly different rules (and we will come onto them shortly), the actual main game remains the same whatever version of the game you are playing.
Each hand you are dealt two cards face up and the dealer also receives two cards, the first is dealt face up with the second face down.
Your aim now is to beat the dealer’s hand by scoring more than them, but without scoring over 21 points. Each card has a value indicated by its number, so 2-10 have their relative values and all the picture cards, Jack, Queen and King all also are valued at 10. The Ace is the key card as this can be valued at either 1 or 11, depending which suits you best.
The fundamental thing to understand when playing blackjack is that regardless of what your hand is, if you beat the dealer then you win. The dealer has to play by a certain strategy and this is usually that they must stick their hand if they hit 17 or better, in all other cases they will draw from the pack. That of course means, that the dealer can bust.
So, for example, if you have hit 15 in your hand with say King and a five, and the dealer’s face card is a six, the chances of you hitting a six or below with your next card is comparatively small, compared to the dealers chances of hitting a six or above with their next card (which they must draw). Therefore, if you are on 15 and the dealer’s face card shows a six, the shrewd play is to Stand and let the dealer draw the card and hope they bust.
In terms of the options you have, the basic options are to Stand, which means to stop drawing cards from the pack and retain the cards you have in the hope of them being a winning hand. You can also Draw, which is to draw cards from the pack to try and improve your hand. If you go over 21 then you are Bust and the dealer automatically wins.
There are other alternatives such as Splitting two of the same cards (at an additional cost) to play two hands against the dealer, or Doubling Down (where you double your stake, and draw just one more card). These can increase your chances of landing a better value win, or they could end up costing you more if the gamble doesn’t pay off.
Once the action has been completed and the player and dealer have finished drawing their cards, the winner of the hand is decided and paid out. If the player loses, the dealer takes their stake, if the player wins, then they receive their stake back plus the same amount again from the casino. The only difference to that is if a player scores blackjack (21), in which case they receive a payout usually valued at 3/2 (so if you bet £20, you would receive £30).
