Amazon Wild Slot Review
Jungle/Safari themed slots are hugely popular and if you head to any top quality online casino, such as Leo Vegas, then you will find that there are a large number games on this theme to pick from. One of them is the Amazon Wild slot, which was developed by Ash Gaming, a subsidiary of the famous Playtech slot development company.
This is a rather colourful (and let us be totally honest here, somewhat cramped) 5×4 reel, 100 payline slot which has some high quality graphics, including 3D, which gives the slot added quality and vibrancy.
There is no line selector on the Amazon Wild slot and so to play the game, you need to play all 100 lines and of course that means a minimum bet of £0.01 per line, so the minimum spend on this slot is £1 per spin. That is a bit more expensive than most, but there are some juicy rewards available for you if you want to spend that money. Higher rollers can spend up to £100 per spin by wagering up to £1 per line if they so wish.
The backdrop to the slot is, as you would expect, an Amazon rainforest, but in amongst the forest are a number of Mayan temples and it is presumably the treasure contained therein that you will unlock if you land the bigger wins in the game. The backdrop is very green and somewhat busy and to be honest, with the colours on the reels, it all does look somewhat messy.
There’s a nice jungle drumbeat to play along to as you spin the reels and there are a large number of symbols on the reels to look out for. There are two sets of lower paying symbols, Birds and Flowers and there are four symbols in each of these. The Bird symbols tend to pay out slightly more than the Flowers (which range from 20 coins to 250 coins) whereas the Birds payout from 22 coins to 300 coins.
There are also four higher value Animal symbols on the reels and they do offer a wide range of payouts from the smaller payouts of the red tree frog of from 25 to 50 coins, up to the black panther which offers pay outs of 50 coins up to 1,000 coins. The other animal symbols on the reels are a chameleon and a rather cute monkey.
Alongside these standard features there are two other symbols on the reels, the Wild and the Bonus Scatter and these unlock some of the key features of the slot as we will explore below.
Amazon Wild slot Key Features
The first of the key features of the Amazon Wild slot is the Wild symbol itself which is a Mayan mask of some form. The mask is made seemingly of gold and jade and it can substitute for all symbols in the game apart from the scatter symbol.
Furthermore, if you manage to land two wilds on a reel then it will expand to cover the entire reel with Wilds on that spin, which can of course lead you to some better value wins, especially if you can land more than one of the scatters across the reels on a single spin.
The other symbol to watch out for is the ancient scrolled up map, which is the bonus scatter symbol and this serves two functions. First off, it will award you an initial win of between 4 and 2000 times your total stake, which is where some of the biggest wins in the game can be found. These wins are only paid out if you land three or more scatters across the reels.
In addition, when you do land the scatter bonus, you will then launch the Amazon Map Game. This is a simple Pick’em game where the player has a choice of different ancient ruins on a map. They can select three, four or five of the ruins on the map depending on how many scatters they landed to open the bonus round. Each set of ruins will then award the player a different prize and the player continues to pick ruins and adding to their prize until their picks are all used up.
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises about this slot is that it does not have a free spins bonus round attached to it and that perhaps is an oversight given how popular this form of bonus feature is on modern slots. However the flip side of not having this bonus feature is that you tend to be able to trigger the Amazon Map Game bonus a lot more frequently on the Amazon Wild slot than you are a free spins bonus on some comparable slots. That’s a positive because that means you have more opportunities to win bigger sums in the Map Game bonus.
This is a medium variance slot and occasionally can play a little lower than that, but the base game can deplete your funds at times especially as many wins are not as much as you gamble as you have to cover all 100 lines. This can see the game eat into a bankroll, especially if you are playing it at too high a stake for your current bankroll level. As such, you need to make sure you have enough money available to play for a lengthy period of time on this slot to get the best out of it.
When you do though the slot, though perhaps a little messily presented and a little squashed on most screens, does play nicely and the bonus of being to activate the Amazon Map Game relatively easily does make this an attractive play for many users.
The Amazon Wild slot seems to be a complex slot when you see the initial 100 paylines in play but with spins starting at just £1 per game, you can enjoy this slot very simply as the game itself is so easy to follow. The bonus games are relatively easy to land in this slot compared to some other games and they offer a nice mix of rewards, some smaller, some considerably more generous. The base game is fun to play and there is a 2,000 coin jackpot you can chase when playing. Overall, this is a fun, easy to play and enjoyable slot to have a few spins on from time to time.
