Romping Away With The League Title? Get Paid Early At Bet365 Sport!

There’s a famous story about a bookmaker who paid out early on the team they supported winning the Premier League title, and then went on to regret that choice.

Only not only did that bookmaker do it once, they repeated the mistake a few years later!

However, there’s no mistake with bet365 Sport’s latest bonus offer, which will pay out on any bet on a team to win their division or league title, if they go ten points clear of their next closest opponent at any point during the season.

It’s called the Bet365 League Winner Early Payout Offer and it is available throughout the remainder of June, July and right through August until the eve of the new season starting on Thursday 1st September.

Let’s learn a little more about what this offer has to offer before we tell you the story of how one bookie perhaps started a trend with this type of offer.

Right Said Fred – Wrong Said Fate!

Now before we give you some tips for teams you could back to take advantage of this offer from bet365 Sport, let’s first tell you the cautionary tale of how one British bookmaker got stung by paying out early on his favourite team, not just once, but twice.

That person was Fred Done, the owner of Betfred, who in the 1997/98 season watched as his favourite team, Manchester United, romped into the lead in the Premier League title race, opening up a 12-point gap on second place Arsenal at one point during the season.

Mr Done was convinced that United would go on to win the league title, such was their dominance, that he decided to pay out all the customers that had bet on Manchester United to win the Premier League title, well before the title race had been officially decided.

Having paid out over £500,000 in winnings to customers, Mr Done watched on as over time Arsenal ate away at Manchester United’s lead in the table from December through to the 3rd May, when they clinched the league title with 2 games to go with a 4-0 win over Everton.

In that period, Arsenal won 15 and drew 3 of 18 games to clinch the title ahead of United.

The decision to pay out on United cost Mr Done over half a million pounds.

And yet a few years later, he decided to pay out early on Manchester United once again.

  • 2012 – Mr Done Makes The Same Mistake

Then in the 2012/13 season, Mr Done decided that with Manchester United holding a five point lead over Manchester City in April, despite the Manchester derby still to be played, he would pay out on Manchester United winning the title.

He even said that Manchester United boss at the time Sir Alex Ferguson had told him “never to pay out early again but Sir Alex need not worry. I’ve not got it wrong this time, United are past the post for a record 20th Premier League title.”

Only they weren’t and with City winning the derby game, poor results for United against Wigan (A 1-0 defeat), Everton (a 4-4 draw) and then the home defeat to City meant City and United were level on points with two games to go, with City having a much better goal difference.

On the last day of the season, City looked like they could mess it up as they trailed QPR 2-1 heading into injury time, while Man Utd had won 1-0 at Sunderland. However, two very late goals clinched an unlikely win for City and saw Mr Done out of pocket by another £500,000.

Mr Done also paid out on Manchester City winning the league last season when City were 14 points clear of Liverpool, however it took three goals in five minutes from City to clinch the league title by a point on the final day of the season.

Top Tips To Get Your League Winner Payout Early At Bet365 Sport

If you would like to take advantage of this offer at bet365 Sport and you would like to back a team that may see you earn your payout earlier than the end of the season, or when the league title is clinched officially, then there are some options.

Out of the 12 divisions that this offer is available for, there are some intriguing options open to you.

  • England Premier League – Manchester City (4/7) & Liverpool (2/1)

The Premier League has been a two horse race in three of the last four years and I haven’t seen anything from Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham or Manchester United to suggest that they will close the gap on City and Liverpool next season. City are the bookmakers favourites, but I think Liverpool at 2/1 are probably the value pick for this offer.

  • Scottish Premier League – Celtic (8/13) & Rangers (5/4)

It will either be Celtic or Rangers that win the SPL next season and both offer a good bet with bet365 in terms of this offer. Celtic did have a big lead at one point last season and the season before that, Rangers had the same. One team does tend to dominate in Scotland, and it will be one of these two Glasgow giants that does.

  • La Liga – Barcelona (11/8) & Real Madrid (11/10)

This is an interesting bet as I think both these teams are capable of winning La Liga next season and both are also capable of opening up a 10-point lead over the other, if one of the teams starts to falter in terms of form. Yet, I also feel that both teams could pull back a 10-point lead too, provided it doesn’t happen to late in the season, so either of these Spanish giants look a solid bet.

  • Ligue 1 – Paris St Germain (1/10)

PSG are odds-on massively to win Ligue One again and in truth, they have such a big advantage over all the other teams in the division that they should do so very comfortably and as the odds suggest, you are not going to win big money backing them, but you may well get paid out early with the bet365 offer.

  • Bundesliga – Bayern Munich (1/5)

I would be very surprised if Bayern Munich don’t open up a gap of 10 points or more in the Bundesliga next season. They seem to have done that, or more, in many seasons previously and even the loss of Robert Lewandowski won’t slow them down too much, especially with Sadio Mane coming in to replace the potentially departing Polish striker. You won’t win much cash with Bayern Munich, but you will likely get it paid out early.
