Big Foot Slot Review
When I was a young lad, I was really into mysteries and one of my favourite TV shows was the Mysterious World of Arthur C. Clarke and on one of those shows, he showed footage of a creature known by many different names. Sasquatch in North America, Yeti in the Himalayas but perhaps most commonly known as Big Foot.
That footage, taken in 1967 at Bluff Creek by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin is still the subject of much controversy today, with many experts trying to debunk the footage as a hoax, while there is an equal number of experts that claim it is genuine. Whatever the truth, it has certainly inspired Big Foot hunters to try and find their own evidence over the following years.
What is certainly true is that sightings like these have inspired a whole host of Big Foot themed items and one of these is NextGen’s Big Foot slot, which you can play right now at the popular Leo Vegas Casino.
The aim of the slot is to keep on the trail of the elusive Big Foot and find him. If you can then the top prize of 5,000 coins could be winging its way to you.
What you have here is a 5×3 reel slot that is very much an older-style game. There’s no great sound effects involved here, or amazing graphics or presentation that will blow your socks off. What you have is fun, simple slot gaming with a total of 25 selectable pay lines available to select from. You can also increase or decrease the size of your bet and also when you land a base game win, you can try and double your money using the Gamble Feature. Here you can wager your winnings by betting on the draw of a card from the pack. Select Red or Black and predict correctly to win 2x your bet. Alternatively, you can select from the suit of the next card which offers you a win of 4x your initial winnings.
The sounds associated with the slot are somewhat simplistic and generic and there are very few actual “Big Foot” style sounds in the game. The setting is a rather lovely piece of North American wilderness with craggy boulders to the right and pine forest to the left with a setting sun dipping below the horizon. There’s a friendly racoon on the left of the reels and some rather large foot-prints heading off into the distance on the right. Will they lead you to Big Foot Slot success?
On the reels are the usual playing card low symbols from nine through to the Ace and these offer smaller value wins from 5 coins up to 150 coins. There are two medium sized payout symbols on the reels and they are the Campfire and the Big Foot Road Sign and these offer the chance to win between 15 and 200 coins on a line depending on whether 3, 4 or 5 symbols make up your win.
Alongside these symbols are the two higher value options. The first is a river scene which offers pays from 2 coins up to 2,000 coins for five of these symbols on a payline. The highest paying symbol though is the Big Foot hunter himself as he pays out from 5 coins up to 5,000 coins. Both these two higher paying symbols also offer pay outs for just 2 symbols on a line, instead of three.
The variance of the slot is definitely at the lower end with a nice mix of wins when you play the base game and there are some greater chances of earning bigger rewards when you trigger either of the two key bonus games of the slot, which we will look at in more detail in the section below.
Big Foot Slot Key Features
There are a couple of features on the slot and the first of these is the Wild symbol, which is the Big Foot himself. A rather hairy chap which I am sure he would not mind pointing out and he does have incredibly large feet. He appears only on the middle three reels and can substitute for any symbol apart from the Scatter symbol.
In addition to this, if you land three of the Big Foot Wild symbols on the middle three reels on any single spin then you trigger the Big Foot Feature. Here, you get taken to a new screen and you will see several pairs of eyes looking at you from within the Forest. Select a pair of eyes to reveal who they belong to and win a cash prize. Find the Big Foot and you win a larger prize. You have a total of three selections to trigger a top prize in the bonus before you are returned to your spins.
The other feature of the slot is the Free Spins Feature which is triggered when you land three or more the Scatter symbol, the Big Foot Footprint, anywhere across the reels. When you do, you will begin your Free Spins bonus round with 10 Free Spins in your pocket, but you can retrigger additional spins by landing the Scatter symbols on the reels during your bonus play.
During the Free Spins bonus round all your wins are subject to a 2x multiplier and you can also trigger the Big Foot Feature from within the Free Spins round by landing three of the Big Foot Wilds on the middle three reels.
It is fair to say that if you are a fan of more modern slots and all the technical innovations that they can hold, as well as more sophisticated bonus games, then the Big Foot Slot is probably not going to be to your taste. However, I rather liked the game because I felt it offered great lower variance slot gaming that offered you a decent chance of a profit when playing. The bonuses seemed to land a bit more often than on some more modern slots, although I would strongly suggest that to get the best out of the game, you do need to play with all 25 lines in play on each spin.
The Big Foot slot is one of NextGen’s older offerings and this big old beast is starting to look its age now. However if you don’t mind slots with a more retro feel, then Big Foot certainly has plenty still to offer. This includes the chance to win 10 Free Spins with a 2x multiplier as well as a nice Big Foot Feature which offers another way to win larger sums of money. With a 5,000 coin jackpot, it still has a sizeable prize on offer, but it is definitely a slot best suited to fans of retro-styled games.
