NFL Week Eight Preview and Match Tips

After seven weeks of the NFL season so far, we have one team that remains undefeated, the Pittsburgh Steelers, who came through narrowly against the Tennessee Titans to end the Titans unbeaten run and retain top spot in the ultra-competitive AFC North last weekend.

This week promises to be another big week of games including another huge game in the AFC North as the Steelers travel to Maryland to take on their strongest divisional rivals, and many people’s pick to win the Superbowl this year, the Baltimore Ravens. In this article, we are going to preview the games in the NFL this week and give you our best bet for each.

NFL Matchday 8

Friday 0.20 Kick Off

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers

The Falcons are the team that somehow find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory having done so numerous times this season. The Panthers have been one of the surprises of the NFL this season and they should end up with the win here. Take the Panthers at -3.0 at even money.

Sunday Early Games

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens

The biggest game in the NFL this week is an AFC North classic which will see the two big names in this division clash. With a +3.5 handicap, the unbeaten Steelers are a great pick here as I can see this one being a very, very close game between two well-matched teams. Steelers at +3.5 – 10/11.

Los Angeles Rams @ Miami Dolphins

After a fine win over Chicago on Monday night, the Rams should be in confident form heading to face a Miami team that have a 3-3 record and who have surpassed many people’s expectations this season, however this may be a step too far for them. Take the Rams to win this one.

New York Jets @ Kansas City Chiefs

A nice easy one this. Whatever the handicap is on the Chiefs, take it because this could well be the most one-sided game of the season. Back the Chiefs at -19.0 (10/11).

Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers

The Packers may not be 100% any longer but they are still th equality team in the NFC North and although the Vikings are improving, I dn’t feel they are good enough to stop Aaron Rodgers and co here. Take the Packers at -7.0 at odds of 20/21.

Indianapolis Colts @ Detroit Lions

Could Dettroit be something of a slow burner this season? They face up a to a fearsome Colts defence here and even with a +2.5 handicap, I can’t see that being enough to persuade me to back them. Take the Colts at -2.5 at odds of 20/23.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Cleveland Browns

Big losses to Pittsburgh and Baltimore have stymied the Browns progress and Odell Beckham being ruled out for the season is a huge blow. The Raiders could capitalise on that and with a +2.5 handicap, I am backing them for another upset win. Back the Raiders at +2.5 and odds of 20/21.

Tennessee Titans @ Cincinnati Bengals

With the Titans a -5.5 handicap and the fact they are always involved in very close games, even though I feel the Titans will win in Cincinnati, I am not sure they will do it by six points, so here I would back the Bengalds at +5.5 and odds of 10.11,

New England Patriots @ Buffalo Bills

A big AFC North game between the current leaders and the team who have bossed this division in the current century. The time is now for the Bills to prove they are the number 2 team and I expect them to do that here. Take the Bills at -3.5 to land the win at 10/11.

Sunday Late Games

Los Angeles Chargers @ Denver Broncos

A key game in the AFC west between two teams in the bottom two positions at the moment. There’s not much between the two teams but I think with home advantage and a +3.0 handicap, the Broncos are the pick here, even if the Chargers do win a narrow one. Take the Broncos with +3.0 at 10/11.

San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks

This has become a crucial battle in the super-competitive NFC west which has four teams of playoff calibre in contention. The Seahawks were bested by the Cardinals last week, but I think they will get back to winning ways here. Take the Seahawks at -3.0 to win at 20/23.

New Orleans Saints @ Chicago Bears

This is a cracking game for Sunday night and one that should be very close. The Bears form has taken a bit of a dip in recent weeks while the Saints are improving despite being injury hit. This will be a very close battle, but I think home advantage is key. Take the Bears to land a narrow win.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

Two teams who have struggled this season for consistency. Dak Prescott’s injury is a huge blow to the Cowboys and that makes me believe that the Eagles will take the win here. Back the Eagles to win.

Tuesday morning 1.15am Game

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New York Giants

The Giants have endured a miserable season so far and I can’t see things getting any better on Monday night against the Tom Brady-led Bucs who are starting to look like a playoff bound team. Take the Bucs to win even at the -10.5 handicap. Bucs at -10.5 – 10/11.

Please note where odds are unavailable for a game at the time of writing, we have simply selected which team we feel will win the game in question.
