Premier League and FA Cup Quarterfinals Weekend Tips
It’s a somewhat unusual weekend ahead when it comes to top level football in England this weekend as we have four FA Cup quarterfinal ties being played across Saturday and Sunday and then on the same days, there will be five Premier League matches taking place, including big games involving Chelsea facing Everton at Goodison Park while Liverpool travel to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
In the FA Cup we have a number of exciting clashes including two all-Premier League clashes as Watford face Crystal Palace in the opening game while later in the day, Wolves face Manchester United at Molineux in what should be a cup cracker. Other games see Manchester City travel once again to South Wales to face Swansea while Brighton make the trip north to take on Millwall.

FA Cup Quarterfinal Tips
Watford v Crystal Palace
Two Premier League sides kick things off in the FA Cup at Vicarage Road and this should be a good game between two sides that look well matched on paper and based on recent form. Watford have been more consistent but Palace have that attacking edge and extra class that can be telling in a cup game. In truth, I see this one being close and perhaps being decided in extra time or penalties and if it is, I’d fancy Palace to just about earn the semi spot due to their greater experience.
Tip – Draw – 11/5
Swansea v Manchester City
Of course, Swansea are going to steamroller Manchester City and earn a five goal victory…said no football fan who considered this game. City are just slaughtering opponents with ferocity and panache at the moment and it is going to be incredibly difficult to see Swansea having enough possession to register many shots on goal, let alone score one in this game. This is a game City will win and should win very comfortably.
Tip – Manchester City to win – 1/7
Wolves v Manchester United
This FA Cup clash could be one of the best games of the season. United have certainly had a tough route to this stage having beaten Arsenal and Chelsea away to get this far and now they face a Wolves side who have been problematic for the top six in the Premier League all season long. The teams drew at Old Trafford and I think a similar result is in the offing here and once again I can see extra time and penalties being required to decide the winner.
Tip – Draw – 23/10
Millwall v Brighton
After coming through against West Brom and then Derby, Brighton have already beaten two Championship sides in the FA Cup this year and I fancy them to make it three against a MIllwall side that have done well in the cup but who have struggled in the league. The New Den is not an easy place to go and I can’t see the Seagulls winning at a canter but they should have enough quality to claim the win in normal time without the need for extra time and/or penalties.
Tip – Brighton to win – 11/10
FA Cup Quarterfinal Fourfold Accumulator
You can back the four FA Cup Final match result predictions above in a single accumulator if you prefer and if you do then the following tips:
- Watford v Crystal Palace – Draw
- Man City to beat Swansea
- Wolves v Man Utd – Draw
- Brighton to beat Millwall
Would result in a return of £243.40 for a £10 stake should the bet be a winner.
Premier League Tips
Bournemouth v Newcastle United
This is a tricky game to call. Bournemouth’s form this season has, of late at least, been poor or at best inconsistent, while Newcastle’s form has been generally good, though their best performances have tended to come at home of late. Even so, I think neither side has quite enough form at the moment to go into this game hugely confident of the win and as such, I think a draw is the most likely outcome here.
Tip – Draw – 23/10
Burnley v Leicester
Brendan Rodgers will be keen to see his Leicester team win an away game but I think he may find it very tough going against a Burnley side that have been somewhat streaky this season in terms of form. However, the Clarets have lost their last two but with their situation as it is, I think Dyche will have his team really pumped up for this game and on home soil, I am backing them to get the win against a Leicester side who have struggled against lower placed teams this season.
Tip – Burnley to win – 19/10
West Ham v Huddersfield Town
I think West Ham fans are now finally starting to see Manuel Pellegrini’s vision for the team start to come to fruition, although the team are a long way off where the Chilean manager would like them to be. Huddersfield are in desperate straits though and in truth, they are already relegated and it is only a matter of time before mathematics confirms that. As such, I am expecting West Ham to record a solid win here in front of their home fans.
Tip – West Ham to win – 8/15
Fulham v Liverpool
Fulham are in a desperate situation but in a way, so are Liverpool as they seek to earn the points that will take them back to the top of the table with Manchester City in action in the FA Cup this weekend instead. The Reds will know nothing less than a win against the Premier League’s 19th placed side will do and in truth, they are due an away win having drawn all of their last three on the road. I expect them to end that run of draws with a win here.
Tip – Liverpool to win – 1/4
Everton v Chelsea
Everton don’t have a great home record against the top six this season and I think their woes could well continue against Chelsea, a side they have a poor record against, on Sunday. The visitors have come through their own crisis following their 6-0 hammering at Man City and did well to battle back to earn a draw at Wolves last weekend. This will be close and I can see both teams scoring but I feel Chelsea will come out on top.
Tip- Chelsea to win 10/11
Premier League Fivefold Accumulator
