Premier League Preview and Tips for Matchday 12
So the Arsenal v Liverpool game ended all square and means that Manchester City now sit atop the Premier League two points clear of both Chelsea and Liverpool, with the top three all remaining unbeaten after 11 matches thus far. A win for Spurs saw them leapfrog Arsenal into fourth spot, with the Gunners remaining fifth after their draw with Liverpool.
Manchester United’s late winning goal at Bournemouth saw them draw level with the Cherries on points, though Bournemouth still have a better goal difference which sees them hold onto sixth spot with United seventh. Other big winners this past weekend were Everton, who beat Brighton 3-1 and Newcastle and Huddersfield, who both recorded their first wins of the season, both winning 1-0 against Watford and Fulham respectively.

I had a decent week with my tips with a number of Match Result winners, plus a correct score winner. I was a bit disappointed with my Anyime Goalscorer returns though, so I’ll be hoping to put that right with this week’s selections.
In truth most of the bigger teams are in action on Sunday with mainly mid to lower table teams in action on Saturday, that’s not to say there are no key games on that day with the likes of Cardiff, Newcastle and Huddersfield all desperate to pick up points.
Sunday is where the action is with Liverpool facing Fulham, Chelsea taking on Everton, Arsenal facing Wolves and also the massive Manchester derby as City welcome United to the Etihad to try and preserve their unbeaten start and their place at the top of the table.

*Odds shown are correct as of 12pm on Tuesday 6th November 2018
- Cardiff City v Brighton
This is a game that both these sides will view as being a winnable game. Brighton have started the season well and sit in the relative comfort of mid-table, but Cardiff despereately need the points as they lie second from bottom. They defeated Fulham at home last time out and I think they can repeat that kind of performance here but against a stronger Brighton side.
Full Time Result – Cardiff to win – 29/20
Correct Score – Cardiff City to win 2-1 – 10/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Callum Peterson (Cardiff City) – 10/3
- Huddersfield Town v West Ham
After landing their first win of the season against Fulham on Monday night, Huddersfield will want to keep that momentum going against another London team in West Ham. The Hammers enjoyed a 4-2 win over Burnley last time out and they look to be gelling into the team that manager Manuel Pellegrini envisioned. As such, I am backing them to get a narrow win here.
Full Time Result – West Ham to win – 6/5
Correct Score – West Ham to win 1-0 – 6/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Marko Arnautovic (West Ham) – 8/5
- Leicester City v Burnley
It is going to be an emotional afternoon at the King Power Stadium as Leicester face Burnley just two weeks after the awful helicopter crash that saw the Foxes chairman and four others lose their lives. The home fans will be desperate to clinch a win in their memory and I think with emotions running high, that is precisely what will happen.
Full Time Result – Leicester to win – 4/9
Correct Score – Leicester City to win 3-1 – 14/1
Anytime Goalscorer – James Maddison (Leicester) – 7/4
- Newcastle United v Bournemouth
After securing their first victory of the season last week at home to Watford, Newcastle will want to build on that. Bournemouth lost to United last week, when they should not have done, but Eddie Howe’s men have shown plenty of resilience this season and I am backing them to get something from this game, although I do think it will just be a point.
Full Time Result – Draw – 9/4
Correct Score – 1-1 Draw – 11/2
Anytime Goalscorer – David Brooks (Bournemouth) – 7/2
- Southampton v Watford
Southampton were thumped 6-1 by Manchester City last time out and they have won just the one league game so far this season. I really think they are going to struggle for the rest of the season, while Watford have looked very good under Javi Gracia and I think they’ll bounce back from that loss at Newcastle last weekend to secure a win here.
Full Time Result – Watford to win – 19/10
Correct Score – Watford to win 2-1 – 11/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Troy Deeney (Watford) – 12/5
- Crystal Palace v Tottenham
A solid performance against Arsenal saw Palace pick up their first points at home this season, but after defeat at Chelsea they now face a Spurs team that will be boosted by their midweek Champions League fightback against PSV. With Erikssen and Alli now getting back to full fitness and Harry Kane amongst the goals, I think that this is a game that Spurs will take the points from.
Full Time Result – Tottenham to win – 3/4
Correct Score – Tottenham to win 2-1 – 8/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Erik Lamela (Tottenham) – 9/4
- Liverpool v Fulham
After a dismal performance away in Europe where they lost 2-0 to Red Star Belgrade, Liverpool must bounce back at Anfield against the Premier League’s bottom side. I am expecting Jurgen Klopp to rotate things as his team just isn’t firing in attack at the moment, despite being unbeaten. That said, they should still have more than enough to secure a solid win here against a struggling Fulham.
Full Time Result – Liverpool to win – 1/10
Correct Score – Liverpool to win 3-0 – 7/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Georginhio Wijnaldum (Liverpool) – 15/4
- Chelsea v Everton
Everton have suffered a few heavy defeats at the hand of Chelsea in recent years, including last season, and I think the way Chelsea are playing, even with Everton’s improvements this season, I still fancy the London side to secure a big home win. I can see Eden Hazard causing Everton’s back line huge problems and as such, Chelsea should win this comfortably.
Full Time Result – Chelsea to win – 4/11
Correct Score – Chelsea to win 3-0 – 9/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Alvaro Morata (Chelsea) – 11/10
- Arsenal v Wolves
The Gunners have drawn their last two games at Palace and at home to Liverpool but I think they’ll get a result here against a Wolves side that have lost their last three and seem to have lost the confidence they displayed earlier on in the season. This is a really tough game for Nuno Santo’s team and I think Arsenal will take full advantage to secure a good win.
Full Time Result – Arsenal to win – 8/15
Correct Score – Arsenal to win 3-1 – 12/1
Anytime Goalscorer – Alexander Lacazette (Arsenal) – 6/5
- Manchester City v Manchester United
There’s a huge clash in Manchester at the weekend as City take on United and for me, it is the home side that are the massive favourites here. Not only are they in superb attacking form, they are also conceding fewer goals too. United’s results have improved but performances are not that great and in my view, this is a game that City will likely win with relatively comfort.
Full Time Result – Man City to win – 1/3
Correct Score – Man City to win 2-0 – 15/2
Anytime Goalscorer – Bernardo Silva (Man City) – 2/1
