Premier League Predictions

Arsenal – 33/1

Mikel Arteta will be tasked with bringing back Champions League football to Arsenal and while I think he will improve the team markedly next season, I do think that he may just fall a little short time time around, but they will be ready to do precisely that this time next season in my view.

  • Predicted Finish – 5th

Aston Villa – 500/1

Having completed the great escape this past season, I fear for Villa next, especially if Grealish leaves the club or gets injured. Even with him I think they will struggle as they just do not score enough goals in key games to pick up the points they need.

  • Predicted Finish – 18th

Brighton – 500/1

Brighton are always ranked amongst the relegation favourites every season but Ithink while the Seagulls will struggle at times, they have enough quality to get enough points to just about save their bacon for another season in the top flight.

  • Predicted Finish 17th

Burnley – 500/1

Every season the bookies have Burnley as one of the favorites for the drop and in truth, I can’t see them being anywhere near the drop zone. Sean Dyche is a quality manager and I think it will be another mid-table finish for the gravity-defying Lancastrian side.

  • Predicted Finish – 11th

Chelsea – 10/1

With so many big money signings coming into the team and only Willian of note leaving, I do expect a much stronger Chelsea this season, athough I can’t see their signings gelling quickly enough to improve a great deal on this season in terms of position in the league table. However they should be a lot closer to the top two.

  • Predicted Finish – 4th

Crystal Palace – 500/1

I can’t see Palace getting any better this season. Roy Hodgson has done a great job but doesn’t seem able to bring this team on any further. As such, I think this season will be a bit of a struggle although they should avoid the drop.

  • Predicted Finish – 16th

Everton – 200/1

Carlo Ancelotti will make strides with this Everton team but he will be reliant on his new look midfield gelling quickly. I can’t quite see that happening soon enough so it should be another mid-table finish for the Toffees, but I would expect them to push on from this next season.

  • Predicted Finish – 9th

Fulham – 500/1

After having yo-yo’d between the two divisions over the last few years, I think Fulham now have the experience to do just enough to keep their place in the top division. It will be tough for the London side but I think at home, they should just pick up enough points to keep them safe.

  • Predicted Finish – 15th

Leeds United – 150/1

Marcelo Bielsa is a very highly regarded coach and I think he will be capable of steering Leeds into a relatively comfortable mid-table position this season. However they are going to need major reinforcements if they are to keep improving beyond this.

  • Predicted Finish – 13th

Leicester City – 150/1

I think the loss of Ben Chilwell, plus a number of key stars getting a bit older will hurt Leicester a bit this season. They will challenge hard for the top six once again but I think this time around, they will just fall a little short of that.

  • Predicted Finish – 8th

Liverpool – 9/4

Liverpool should be there or thereabouts with City right to the end of the season but I think the Reds will regret not moving into the market a little more aggressively this summer. If they can nab Thiago, they could do back to back title wins, but at the moment, I still feel they will finish second best to City.

  • Predicted Finish – 2nd

Manchester City – 4/5 Favourites

Despite a Carabao Cup success, last season will have been viewed as a failure within the ranks at City and they have spent big to correct that. I think City are the team to beat this season because of it and as such, I think they will be the team claiming the title next summer.

Predicted Finish – 1st

Manchester United – 16/1

United were the form team in the Premier League towards the tail end of last season but two cup semifinal defeats ruined what was a decent run of performances somewhat. With Bruno Fernandes in midfield, I am expecting United to be much closer to City and Liverpool this season.

  • Predicted Finish – 3rd

Newcastle United – 500/1

The recent signing of Callum Wilson will really help Newcastle who were short of goals last season and the England international could get enough goals to help Newcastle push on away from the bottom of the table and more towards mid-table safety.

  • Predicted Finish – 14th

Sheffield United – 500/1

For some reason the bookies have the blades roughly the same odds as the like of Crystal Palace to be relegated. There is no way Chris Wilder’s team will struggle like that and I think they are set for another solid season and a probable mid-table finish.

  • Predicted Finish – 12th

Southampton – 250/1

After a terrible start to last season, Saints kept faith with Ralph Hasenhutl and he led them to mid-table safety. I think he will improve on that again this year leading this talented young Saints side into a top ten finish.

  • Predicted Finish – 10th

Tottenham Hotspur – 50/1

Jose Mourinho has struggled to get the best out of this Spurs squad and his signings so far have been more workmanlike than spectacular. Harry Kane is key and if he can stay fit, Spurs should make the top six, but he does seem to be injured for several weeks in the season and that could leave Spurs shorthanded at key times, hence I feel they just miss out on a top six spot.

  • Predicted Finish – 7th

West Bromwich Albion – 1000/1

The Baggies came up this season and in Slaven Bilic they have a strongminded and likeable manager but I don’t see the quality in this squad to stay in the division and as such, I think they will follow Norwich’s example by having just the one season in the Premier League.

Predicted Finish – 20th

West Ham United – 500/1

I worry a great deal for West Ham. With seeming disharmony at the club between players and board, a manager who has had his best years some time ago and struggled since and no real improvement in the playing squad, I think this could be a torrid year for the Hammers.

  • Predicted Finish – 19th

Wolverhampton Wanderers – 200/1

For me, Wolves are the one team I could see breaking the stranglehold of the top six. They have so much talent and are a well-focused team. I can see them pipping Spurs to land a crucial top six finish after a very solid season.

  • Predicted Finish – 6th
