Who Will Come Out on Top in This Weekend’s Premier League Clashes?
It may well be Grand National weekend, when the country decides to have a collective flutter on the famous race at Aintree, but this weekend also features a packed Premier League fixture list and within the ten games being played across Saturday to Monday, there are a number that will have a massive impact on both the top and bottom of the table.
What we have done this week is to go through each of the 10 matches being played from Saturday to Monday and bring you our tips for the Match Result of each game, together with one other tip which we feel stands a good chance of earning you a win. We will then finish things off with our choice of accumulator bet, which will qualify for Coral’s 4+ Acca Boost bonus.

Let’s begin our preview of the weekend’s action by looking at the early kick off game on Saturday which sees Southampton host Chelsea in what is a crucial match for both teams, but for very different reasons.
Saturday 14th April
Southampton (10/3) v Chelsea (17/20) – Draw (5/2)
Southampton are reaching the point now where they need to take wins rather than points from matches ans although they have a game in hand on the teams around them, Mark Hughes will know that this is no guarantee of a win. Chelsea are out of sorts at the moment and it seems to me like Antonio Conte’s team are somewhat going through the motions and I do not expect the Italian to be in charge beyond the end of the season. I think that gives Southampton a chance but the best I can see them doing here is taking a point. Tip – Draw (5/2)
Crystal Palace (19/20) v Brighton (16/5) – Draw (11/5)
These teams share an unlikely rivalry and it will be an intense atmosphere at Selhurst Park at the weekend in what is an absolutely crucial match for Palace to pick up three points. Three points ahead of Southampton, but with the Saints having a game in hand, Roy Hodgson will know that these are the games his side must win in order to stay in the Premier League this season. Brighton look safe in mid-table and they’ll give Palace a tough examination, but I am backing the return of Zaha to help Palace secure the three points here. Tip – Crystal Palace win (19/20)
Swansea City (6/4) v Everton (2/1) – Draw (21/10)
Everton ended a long wait for an away win with a 2-1 win at Stoke last time out on the road and they now travel to south Wales to face a Swansea side that are struggling to find wins at the moment. Even so, the Swans form has improved a great deal under Carlos Carvajal and I fancy them to put an end to their run without a win here against an Everton side that have been abysmal away from home most of the season and who rarely threaten a goal. Tip – Swansea to win (6/4)
Huddersfield (13/8) v Watford (9/5) – Draw (21/10)
With Huddersfield holding a slender lead over the three teams in the bottom places of the Premier League, manager David Wagner will know that a win here against Watford would massively increase their chances of survival. The Hornets are relatively clear of the drop zone and Javi Gracia has done a decent job since coming in. Watford can spoil the day for teams away from home, but I think Huddersfield’s need is the greater and I’m backing them to pick up three vital points here.. Tip – Huddersfield to win (13/8)
Burnley (8/5) v Leicester City (2/1) – Draw (19/10)
Burnley for me have been the outstanding team of the season in the Premier League bar Manchester City. Sean Dyche has worked wonders with his squad to have them in the position they are in and they come into this game on the back of four wins. Leicester are a tad inconsistent at the moment and that has been their big problem for most of the season. At their best the Foxes could sneak a win here, but I think Burnley are so solid at the back and in such good form that I feel another 1-0 home win looks on the cards here. Tip – Burnley to win (8/5)
Liverpool (1/4) v Bournemouth (11/1) – Draw (5/1)
It’s been a fabulous week for Liverpool with their place in the Champions League semi finals confirmed and Chelsea slipping up against West Ham to ensure the Reds stay very much in the top four race. However, a win here at home against Bournemouth is a must for the Reds as they seek to secure Champions League football next season. The Cherries have given the Reds some tough games at Anfield over the last two years and Saturday evening won’t be any different but I am backing the Reds to come through this one with the win. Tip – Liverpool win (1/4)
Tottenham (29/20) v Man City (17/10) – Draw (5/2)
There is no doubt that this is the biggest game of the weekend and it promises to be a cracker with Tottenham, unbeaten in 2018, facing the Champions-elect Manchester City who are facing the prospect of four losses in a row should they lose this one on Saturday night. City will be desperate to avoid a defeat here as will Spurs and when two top teams have that mindset, even though both could win the game, I always feel that these types of matches tend to edge towards a draw more often than not. Tip – Draw (5/2)
Sunday 15th April
Newcastle Utd (12/5) v Arsenal (11/10) – Draw (5/2)
Over the years, this game has produced some fantastic matches in the Premier League and Sunday afternoon’s clash looks like being no different as both sides come into the game having hit a nice run of form of late. The Gunners away record in the Premier League though is poor this season and has contributed to them being well off the pace at the top of the table. Three wins in succession has eased Newcastle’s relegation worries and a win here would likely confirm them as safe, but I am backing the Gunners to grab a point in what should be a tight game. Tip – Draw (5/2)
Man Utd (2/11) v West Brom (18/1) – Draw (11/2)
I have tried to make a case for West Brom to get something from this game and although the Baggies have won at Old Trafford in the recent past, their current form is such that there is nothing I can see that would give Baggies fans any hopes of anything other than a defeat here on Sunday. United will be buzzing after their superb comeback win over City last weekend and they’ll want to put West Brom to the sword to cement second spot in the table and I can see them doing precisely that. Tip – United to win (2/11)
Monday 16th April
West Ham (Evens) v Stoke City (14/5) – Draw (14/5)
They may not have deserved a point on the day, but West Ham’s superb 1-1 draw at Chelsea last weekend was a massive boost to their hopes of survival and means they head into this relegation six-pointer in a far better frame of mind than Stoke City who have lost all of their last four and look in real danger of dropping out of the Premier League. The Hammers home ground hasn’t been a happy place of late but I think the home fans will know a win here could well secure their Premier League survival and that is precisely what I am expecting West Ham to get. Tip – West Ham to win (Evens)
