Who Will Make It To Wembley – This Weekend’s FA Cup & Premier League Tips

It’s a strange weekend in England for football fans this weekend with four FA Cup Quarter Final matches taking place, plus four Premier League games taking place, both ahead of the International break.

As such, for those teams playing in the FA Cup, it is a chance to earn the right to play at Wembley in a semi-final (which admittedly, won’t be too big an incentive for Tottenham given that they have played all their home games their this season) while in the Premier League it is an opportunity for eight teams to earn some points in their quest to improve their relative positions, with some battling relegation while others are seeking to improve top half status.

We have gone through each of the four games in the FA Cup this weekend and given you a short preview of each game, along with our pick for the match. We’ve then combined these selections into a Coral 4+ Acca Boost bet which could see you land a free bet of up to £100 if your accumulator bet is a winner.

We’ve then looked at the four Premier League games and given you our tips for the result and what a Coral 4+ Acca Boost bet would work out for these selections.

Here’s my tips for the games taking place in the FA Cup across Saturday and Sunday.

FA Cup Quarter Finals

Swansea City v Tottenham (Live on BT Sport, Saturday 12.15pm)

With Harry Kane ruled out for a month, Spurs fans will be hoping Son can deputise in his absence, although Mauricio Pochettino could give Fernando Llorente some game time too. Son’s greater mobility though I think would likely see him move into a central role, with Lamela coming in to replace Son in the wide position.

Spurs face a Swansea side that is going well under Carlos Carvajal, but whose primary focus remains the fight for Premier League survival. The Swans did draw at Wembley earlier in the season against Spurs, but lost at home 2-0 and in truth, I think that is a result that is likely to be replicated in this game.

Acca Pick – Tottenham to win at 1/2 with Coral Sport.

Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion (Live on BT Sport, Saturday 7.45pm)

The evening clash at Old Trafford pits together two teams that played out a memorable 1983 final, when Gordon Smith had a last minute chance to win the cup for Brighton, fluffed it and United made him pay winning the replay at Wembley 4-0 a few days later. United beat Brighton 1-0 in the Premier League earlier this season and after their Champions League exit to Sevilla in midweek, any win will do for United boss Jose Mourinho.

Brighton though are in good form, though they were beaten at Everton last time out and I think with United fans wanting a positive reaction from the dismal performance on Tuesday, I can only see a comprehensive United win here.

Acca Pick – Manchester United to win at 1/3 with Coral Sport.

Wigan Athletic v Southampton (Live on BBC1, Sunday 1.30pm)

After their stunning win over Manchester City in the last round, League One’s reward was a home draw against another Premier League outfit in Southampton and they come into this game in good spirits having secured a 1-0 win away to Bradford in midweek to gain three points on the teams above them chasing promotion.

In contrast Southampton lie just outside the relegation zone in the Premier League and have sacked their manager in the past week. However, teams that do this usually get a bump in performance over the next few games, Craig Shakespeare’s tenure at Leicester being a good example, and as such, I think this will be a close one, perhaps needing extra time to decide the winner.

Acca Pick – Wigan v Southampton – Draw – 11/5 with Coral Sport

Leicester City v Chelsea (Live on BBC1, Sunday 4.30pm)

Leicester got back to form last weekend with a fine win over West Brom at the Hawthorns and they face a Chelsea team that comes back from a chastening 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Nou Camp, in a game that Chelsea actually played relatively well in but where they were put to the sword by the brilliance of Lionel Messi.

This is a game that I think has the potential to be a very close one. Leicester are very strong at the King Power Stadium and Chelsea’s away form is not the best at the moment. That said, with this being Chelsea’s last chance at silverware this season, I expect them to play a very strong team and put up a real fight. This is another game I can see requiring extra time and even penalties to decide the winner.

Acca Pick – Leicester v Chelsea – Draw – 12/5 with Coral Sport.

Coral 4+ Acca Bonus

If you collate the above selections into a single fourfold accumulator with Coral then you get:

  • Tottenham to win at 1/2
  • Manchester United to win at 1/3
  • Wigan v Southampton – Draw at 11/5
  • Leicester v Chelsea – Draw at 12/5

A £10 wager on this fourfold would return £217.60 if your bet was a winner, meaning you would also get a free £21.76 bet as part of the 4+ Acca Bonus promotion.

Premier League

There are four games this weekend in the Premier League with five teams having the weekend off ahead of the International break as they are not involved in the FA Cup or the Premier League. The matches that are taking place are outlined below together with my selections for each.

  • Bournemouth v West Bromwich Albion – Home win – 20/23 with Coral
  • Huddersfield v Crystal Palace – Draw – 21/10 with Coral
  • Stoke City v Everton – Draw – 21/10 with Coral
  • Liverpool v Watford – Home Win – 2/11 with Coral

A £10 fourfold accumulator on these selections would return £212.30 if successful and you would of course receive a free bet of £21.23 as part of the Coral 4+ Acca Bonus.

Eightfold Mega Acca

If you decided to put all four FA Cup predictions alongside the four Premier League predictions into a single accumulator bet then this would massively increase the value of your pay out. To confirm, the bet would be on the following eight games this weekend:

  • Tottenham to win at 1/2
  • Manchester United to win at 1/3
  • Wigan v Southampton – Draw at 11/5
  • Leicester v Chelsea – Draw at 12/5
  • Bournemouth to win at 20/23
  • Huddersfield v Crystal Palace – Draw at 21/10
  • Stoke City v Everton – Draw at 21/10
  • Liverpool to win at 2/11

Land all eight results on the money and you can win a massive £4,620.30 for a £10 stake and that would qualify you for the maximum £100 Free Bet available on the Coral 4+ Acca Boost promotion.
